3 Main Reasons Facebook Can Never Ever Beat E-mail Marketing

You might think that the good old e-mail is dead because it’s boring and everyone’s on Facebook already. That’s probably true but no one with Facebook doesn’t have an e-mail. E-mails are literally the modern-day version of mailboxes. It’s a necessity and Facebook is not. So what does that mean for entrepreneurs and marketers? That means you should make it a point to grow your mailing list and keep on improving your e-mail marketing efforts.

Here are three reasons why Facebook can never beat e-mail when it comes to marketing:

1. E-MAIL USERS > FACEBOOK USERS. Email has three times as many user accounts as Facebook and Twitter combined. Yes, combined! That fact alone is enough reason why you should focus on E-mail rather than social media. The operative word here is focus. Of course, you don’t have to choose just one and forget the other but the point here is that we should make efforts with e-mail marketing, too. Some of us think social media is everything. It is not. The numbers alone is enough proof.

2. FACEBOOK IS NOT A PLACE FOR HARD SELLING.

Social networks are primarily for socializing…or networking…you get the picture. People log-in to Facebook to laugh or check out the latest gossip. If you’re selling life insurance, for example, it will do you more harm than good if you approach your “friends” and chat them up about your latest insurance package, know that in a few seconds you’ll be hidden or worse, blocked. People hate salesmen especially if they just want to relax. However, you get a bigger chance of being entertained if you’re selling via e-mail. And the reason is that…

3.  E-MAIL MEANS “WORK MODE” IS ON.

When we log in to our e-mails, our minds are set to receive updates about work, promos, ads, and other marketing e-mails. That is why we are more patient with sales messages when we receive them in our e-mails compared to when we receive them on Facebook. We are psychologically ready to receive and review ads when they are in our e-mail’s inbox.

These things are quite basic but how come we’re not paying much attention to our e-mail list? Time to roll your sleeves and strategizing your e-mail marketing campaign again.
