About the Founder- James Hill:

James Hill had created Unified Manufacturing from the ground up.

The young James Hill was managing bands in the UK before leaving the temperate maritime climate of Birmingham,UK for Los Angeles, where at the tender age of 20, he signed his first act to RCA records.

In 2003, he founded Live Unsigned, a company that worked with unsigned bands providing them the opportunity to showcase for the music industry and shop major record deals. This gained him a deal with Warner Reprise records.

The following year, James developed another showcase concept- this time as a program for VH1. This show, also a vehicle for up-and-coming bands, later became the network’s Late World with Zach.

Missing the day-to-day trenches of managing talent, Hill launched the Science Lab in 2005, where he managed both songwriters and producers. The Science Lab camped out at A&M/Interscope Records for two years, during which time James worked alongside Ron Fair and Damon Elliott on Keyshia Cole‘s platinum debut album, The Way It Is. This project won James a Platinum Record for his work . This was the golden age of Science, and they were also writing and producing songs for INXS, Pink, Gwen Stefani and Mary J. Blige.

In 2006, Hill put his industry expertise to work and established the Unified brand. He launched a touring merchandise and media company, as well as an e-commerce fulfillment house creating webstores and handling fulfillment for Pillar, Thursday and Willie Nelson. Then, working with legendary swag merchant and CEO of Amp Merchandising, Pamela Hensel, James and Unified produced merch for Bob Dylan, The Black Eyed Peas, Willie Nelson, Beck and Billy Corgan.

James works like a man possessed. Unified Manufacturing currently handles products for some 145 independent record labels in the United States, and produced over 600,000 units for the music industry in 2011. Unified has clients in a variety of industries, including music, film, education, sports and the publishing.

When not blogging and working, James can be found gardening or watching his beloved Aston Villa football team.
