Freeway & Jakeone The Stimulus Package/ CD packaging

CD Packaging of the Week: Freeway- Stimulus Package

Wouldn’t you be jumping with joy if you see a stack of dollar bills lying on your doorstep? I would. But then, after 2 seconds you realize it’s fake. How would you feel? Bummed? Pissed?  You examine it closer and realize it’s the Freeway CD you purchased the other day. Now your face lights up again.

Opening the packaging of Freeway’s Stimulus Package is as enjoyable as listening to their music. The liner notes are huge dollar bills in a bank sleeve wrapped around the packaging like a big stack of money. After removing the sleeve and the bills you see the CD is inside a cardboard wallet, complete with a download credit card for the instrumental versions.

Although this is not my kind of packaging (I prefer simpler ones), I still admire it for its efforts to become quirky and memorable.
