3 Ways You Can Benefit from a Creative CD Packaging

For an indie musician, money is very important because every penny comes from their own pockets. Thus, spending a big amount on CD packaging is not included in the plan. But what they do not know is that a good-looking CD packaging will give them more profit in the long run. And not only will it possibly give good financial return, it will also help build their brand/image (which is more important!). Another thing they do not know is that they can make excellent CD packaging without spending a fortune! Actually, my guess is that they know this but they are too LAZY to come up with creative alternatives.

If you are this kind of musician and you are about to release your first album, here are some of the reasons why you should give importance to your CD packaging.

Good CD packaging=defined image= more fans=more profit. This should be every band’s long-term goal. Do not expect fast return of your investment. That being said, your math should not be [Money gained from CD minus money spent in producing CD]. You should be willing to lose a few dollars in the beginning of your career and expect long-term pay off. Make sure you invest a lot of time and effort (and money if really necessary) in establishing your image because this is very important in your career.

Good CD packaging= more publicity. If you make extra effort to make your CD packaging catchy, then expect people to talk and write about it. No one features a boring-looking CD of new artists. Make sure your CD is creative enough so that bloggers, magazines writers, and radio commentators would talk about it. Don’t forget to send out your CD to these people BEFORE the CD release.

Good CD packaging=possibility of more CD sales. Although most people prefer to download music, some of them just need a little ‘extra something’…an extra push to make them purchase your album. In order for you to get on top, you should sell more than music. And what better way to convince them than a catchy CD packaging! Unlike the songs, they could not download a creative CD packaging over the internet.

These are just 3 good reasons why you should put extra effort in your CD packaging! Talent is the number one requirement to be a successful musician but you should know how to market yourselves so that more people would know about you. Good luck!
