Do not focus ALL your time and money in making the coolest website. Everyone is doing that nowadays. What they do not know is that people still want to see,feel,smell,and taste the real thing before they reach their pockets. That people want to feel extra ,extra special. Well, I guess most of us know this already but we just don’t want to spend more and do more.

One of the classic ways to market your brand -which should never be eliminated because of the internet -is mailing CDs. It still works! A study conducted in 2010 reveals that consumers prefer direct mail use of CDs and DVDs. They surveyed 800+ respondents and here are some of the results:
85 % prefer a disc over an email
59% believe a DVD is more secure than an email.
91% are more likely to open mail containing a CD or DVD in it. Apparently, the tactile sensation of opening and playing the disc elicits excitement in direct mail recipients.
73% of the more than 800 survey participants would actually play the disc on their computers.
Personally, I love receiving tangible promotional items than those wordy e-mails. Words will never be enough. Pictures will never be enough. I want to see the actual stuff and hold it with my bare hands. I want to feel special because I’m a spoiled brat and all customers are spoiled brats. Or, let me rephrase that. Most people are spoiled brats and you have to spoil us with TLC first before we even consider looking at your products.
Sending CD-ROMs is not just for big businesses. Musicians can give out free CDs to their fans who reposted their videos on Facebook, for example. Make sure it’s not like the CD you sell. It should have special features like your music video, a game, band photos, special message.
Filmmakers (and musicians,too) can send out their trailers or demo reels to possible sponsors. I’m sure that after they insert your DVD, they’d be too guilty to just donate $5 in your Kickstarter campaign. Of course you have to select your prospects wisely so you’ll have good return. The good news is that most duplicators are willing to make 100 CDs or less. This is really advantageous to those who are willing to try but are a bit scared of the risk. Another tip: Don’t just give them CDs in standard jewel cases. Since you’re at it, you should package your CD in creative CD packaging.
