Musicians: 6 Ways to Keep Your Fans Hooked

So you got a pretty good number of fans right now (congrats!) but you know it’s not simply about acquiring fans, it’s about keeping them. If you don’t keep them hooked, chances are, they would forget you little by little every day. Keeping them engaged is the best way to maintain a loyal fanbase. Here are some awesome ways to keep your fans hooked:

BE ENTERTAINING ONSTAGE. We’re not talking about music, we’re talking about antics, jokes, stories, costumes, whatever you can think of to be more fun when you’re performing onstage. This makes you more charming and therefore memorable. There are many

RELEASE SINGLES/ALBUMS CREATIVELY. There are so many reasons why you should be more creative with your releases. One is that your fans will love it, two is that you will be talked about. Here are some really creative ways to release music.

SELL UNIQUE MERCHANDISE. The operative word being unique. Don’t just make merch that other musicians have, come up with something really worth buying and talking about like this and these.

CROWDSOURCE. Crowdsourcing, which used to be simply known as “asking favors” from friends and fans to finish a project, has been used by many artists for years. It’s a model that works because the fans love to collaborate. You can ask your fans to help you with your music video, t-shirt design, album art, and many more.

PUT YOUR CD IN A KICK-ASS CD PACKAGING. Now, more than ever, a good-looking CD packaging is necessary for your CD to even get a second glance. People can just easily download and pass around your music nowadays so you need to have a really killer CD packaging for your fans to actually consider buying your CD.

SEND REALLY GOOD NEWSLETTERS ONCE IN A WHILE. There’s just something warm and fuzzy when we see an e-mail sent by our favorite musician compared to ,say, just reading their updates on Facebook or Twitter. It’s more personal. It makes us feel like we’re part of a special group. Just make sure you only send quality newsletters to your fans and make sure your frequency is not annoying. Here are some very important pointers so your newsletter will work in your favor.
