USB sticks tied to balloons? Crazy way to LAUNCH a single!

When you were a kid, did you ever wonder where helium balloons go if you release them? I’m not a kid anymore but I still do. Up,up and away to the clouds, to the sun …to the stars? Well, the Belgium-based band GARCIA GOODBYE found out that it could end up at least 800 miles away. They released their new single “Horizon” by putting it in USB sticks, tying them to balloons, and setting them free.

They put 2 files in the USB key: the song itself and a readme file saying the finder should contact GARCIA GOODBYE. The band promised to visit the ones who’ll find the USB sticks to say hi and play in their living room…no matter how far away. What a crazy idea, right? I bet some bands wish they did it first.

From their hometown near Brussels, Belgium, a number of balloons took off. Surprisingly, one of the balloons flew all the way over to … Denmark and was found near Soenderborg. Yes lads, it is possible!

“ We never thought it would fly all the way to Scandinavia. But a promise is a promise,” said Tommy, the singer of Garcia Goodbye.

The band drove 800 miles to meet the guy, had a nice chat, played some songs, said goodbye, and traveled 800 miles back. Whew! That’s a loooong drive. Let’s hope more bands would do crazy (the good kind of crazy) gimmicks to please their fans.
